Professional journalism – credit course
Writers at any experience level learn the basics of travel writing.
Course guides participants through drafting, revising and editing
travel scenes and personal encounters — the raw material for creating features for newspapers, websites, or magazines. Through hands-on writing exercises and assignments, participants discover how to capture atmosphere, sketch characters, describe local color and mood with words and camera.
We work on developing story ideas and learn how to structure a travel article for publication in print or new media. Tips on the business of travel writing include discovering markets, writing queries, finding and using research material, as well as networking with editors.
Elective credit toward Certificates in Journalism.
Enrollment limited to 20 students.
